I have done the OS update and both PT8 HD & LE are working fine on my Mac. It appears it's mainly iMac's that are usually the ones that are sensitive to change whenever there is an update.

As far as Digi giving certification.... Isn't that usually a slow like Molasses process? I mean if you look at the Digi compatibility computer list for PC they reference computers that haven't been made for a number of years as being the certified machines "they" recommend. I think asking for a certification 2 days after an OS update release is being a bit pushy.

Anytime there has been an OS update within a few days of the updates release, I will usually go for it, if no one has said anything on the DUC in regards to machines similar to mine. Cause usually there are always people that will install any updates right away. And if a problem was reported on a machine similar to mine, I will wait a little longer before jumping.
That's another great thing about this community. Being able to help each other out like this.
Anyway, PT 8.03cs1 is working fine on my 8 Core Intel Mac with OS 10.6.3. (UPDATE: And as of today April 1st, PT 8.03cs2 is working great as well.)

For what it is worth, I installed the OSX 10.6.3 update via software update (not the combo update because I wanted to live on the edge ) from OCX 10.6.2 on an Mac Mini with Protools LE 8.0.3cs1 using a Digi002R. Every seems to be running fine so far . This is my experimental Mac so I was willing ot risk needing to reload everything. On my production 8-core Mac Pro and my Macbook Pro, I plan to do the combo update later (can't risk those yet).

We'd really like to hear from someone with a i5 or i7 iMac and a USB audio interface. The way I see it, since it is not working anyway, you might as well go for it and update so you can report back to the rest of us. Sorry if I make you sound like a guinea pig.

just put it(PT 8) on my son's MacBook, running SL, using an original mBox... and it worked fine. Might have to put it Snow Leopard on the Mac Mini!

New 8.0.3cs2 update available! :)

It seems to address both coreaudio and USB devices.

So we have a PT update and an OSX update that both address USB issues. Perhaps we have a winner?

Fixed: Kernel Panic when shutting down Mac if Mbox 2 was disconnected previously (Item #56617)
Mac computers would kernel panic (crash) on shut down if the computer was started with an Mbox 2 USB device (Mbox 2, Mbox 2 Mini, or Mbox 2 Micro) attached, and the Mbox 2 is disconnected prior to shutdown.
FINALLY!!

THANK YOU. I have the EXACT same setup as you, so I should be fine, too! You just made it very easy for me!

That was 10.6.3. Now it's 10.6.4, so it starts all over again.

We can only hope that Avid was waiting for 10.6.4.
