Default HD requirements? Avid won't help me

Hi, I have run LE and 10 standard in the past. I am looking to play with the big boys now and get an HD setup going. The thing is, I have absolutely no idea what all I need technically.

First off, what is the difference between HDX, HDNative, and HDTDM? What sort of processor does anyone recommend? Do you have to use specific interfaces? How do these work? What about control surfaces? Will my Command 8 work? What is an HD card? What all do I need?? Avid does not give me these answers and they want me to PAY them to ask them!!

Someone please help!

HDX is the new TDM - chip power is taking a load off ur computer (running plugins) - but HDX is 2 or 3 times more powerful than the older TDM cards

HDnative - no card power (for plugins) - all CPU processing power but HD interfaces with low latency advantages

All general info - not an expert but that's it

Avid Support Codes are for product owners that need assisted technical support, not for pre-sales product questions.

You should actually find a reseller (or maybe contact a Sales Rep) to discuss your needs. You could also read the product info we have provided, for example:

Pro Tools HD Family
Pro Tools Software Comparison Chart
Compatibility & Upgrade Information for Pro Tools on Windows
Pro Tools|HDX FAQ

I have tried to contact a sales rep.. I have scoured the entire Avid site looking for a way to do that. How do I do this? I need to talk to someone on the phone if that is possible.

Sales rep are people in stores that are working for the store but specifically work on selling Avid's products. The link DTS gave you would enable you to find a store near you that sells avid products, and then it's a simple matter of going to that store and talking with the person in charge of selling Avid's products.

Not hard to do .. really...

I second what Tom said. Call Sweetwater, as they are a great place to go if you're not sure what to do.
