Default Can the iPod be used as a storage drive?

I was reading that the iPod can store data, so , can it be used as a portable drive for audio as well? That would be great!!

The iPod is a fully bootable 5gb drive. Not supported by apple, but true nonetheless.

Has anyone used it with PTFree(or maybe even PTLE)? Will it work?
Is a Powerbook-MBox_iPod combination possible?

Just read that iPod appears as a drive on your desktop and can be used as "the ultimate data transferral device (apparently you can even boot a Mac from it with the correct system)"
Does sound pretty neat...wonder if it is true.....anyone heard anything else ?

One interesting thing about it is that it can play back 16/44.1 files as well as MP3s (I referring to what it can play, not just its hard drive capabilities). Sounds like a good way to take your work out and audition it.

I've got one.. and it all true. 5 gig firewire drive. Whatever space you don't use for mp3's, you can use as a standard drive. It's quite cool.

Yeah, I got an iPod too, and you can store on to it. When it's hooked up to your comp it mounts to your desktop just like any other drive. 5 gigs of firewire storage.
