Default Delay compensation fails then fixes itself - scary

I was working away and started to feel uncomfortable about sync.

Audio on tracks with plug-ins on which are routed to busses which come up on auxes which also have plug-ins on and these auxes are routed to my speakers.

I made a new track and routed it straight to my speakers and copied some audio onto it exactly in time with the audio going through the chain.

Wow - not even flanging - over a frame discrepancy.

I made some plug-ins inactive and the problem went away. Then I reactivated them and it came back. Worrying.

Then I rebooted Pro Tools and everything was completely fine.

Seems like delay compensation just chose to give up for a while. Which is not a nice feeling.

Anyone else had this? Hopefully it was a one off but I don't want to keep second guessing.

Maybe related, maybe not, but I sometimes have it, that tracks with plugins suddenly stop being played back. Nothing on the meters, too. When I make them inactive and then active again, all's back to normal. Same when I switch off ADC off and back on again. Or rebooting PT.
A pain in the ass, really. Especially when it happens while you're printing and don't pay attention to a bit that suddenly goes missing. Had a client point it out once, that an event was missing, that clearly was in the session. The track got omitted during recording the mix.

PT is a total train wreck atm, I hate using it but have to every ****** day.

I've seen tracks improperly compensated before, where the result is wrong if I rely on ADC but correct when manually moving the clips the reported amount. I haven't seen things fall out of sync like the OP but to be honest, it could very easily happen and I'd never notice a frame or two on something like an ambience track.

I have had this happen before, as recently as a couple of weeks ago. A random track goes mute (no meter moves) for no reason. Relaunch PT.
