Default PT12 - TCEX, PnT units, clips start-end time code display

Hello everybody,

after upgrade to PT12 (currently running 12.4 HDn) I came across strange issue:

After selecting a clip, I dial Avid's TCEX plugin or Serato Pitch'n'Time plugin and both of them do not display correct clip's start and end time code. They alwats display start timecode 00:00:00:00 and end timecode just equals the clip's lenght.

In my workflow, I quite often need to dial a specific timecode, where a clip needs to end. Right now, this is more trial and error until clip's end reach timecode I need.

Did I miss some settings in preferences or it is a bug?

best,
Kuba

There has been a bug for many revs now, TC reads wrong in the plug if your session is at 23.98, but all other rates work properly (for me). Unfortunately, AVID has not fixed this in PT 12.

But I don't see the behavior you are describing, I see wrong TC numbers but I don't see 0 as the start time

What's your frame rate?
IF you change your session rate does it make any difference?

You can always spot the end of the region to a specific TC #, but I assume that isn't what you are looking for.

As I live and work in Europe, most of my projects are @25fps, sometimes @24fps.

The strange thing is, that this happens not only with one particular Audio Suite plug-in, but with several ones from different vendors.

It just does not matter, where the clip is placed - both TCEX and P'n'T always show the start time code value 00:00:00:00.

We have 4 PT 12.4 HDn on Mac Yosemite setups - all of them behave as I described.

I looked through settings, preferences, trying to find, if there is a setting related to this issue, but found nothing.

I have also checked this thing by opening the session on my friend's PT 12.4 nonHD/PC setup. Session start is set to 09:59:58:00, but TCEX shots Time Code 167:59:21:15.00.
If you select a clip placed at 10:00:00:00 gives 167:59:23:15.00 start time code in TCEX plug-in.
So this is also strange, but in other way...

Avid, please check, if you can recreate this.

best,
Kuba

I am wondering if you have contacted Serato regarding this issue?

Kuba,

I just rechecked your post, I was looking at Time Shift plugin not TCE .... sorry for the wrong info - you are right, it is all screwed up on my system too!!

However, Time Shift plug is working (I changed my system to 25 fps, works at that rate too)

Here's a screen cap showing both plugs ..... see the region above, Time Shift is displaying properly. TCE is whacked

Not sure if this helps you, but maybe you can use Time Shift.

(Now, why AVID changed the font on these plugs to something almost unreadable is another thread ....)

UPDATE:
Serato indeed realised, that the 'end' measurement is wrong, so they've drawn up a bug report, and it will get investigated.
