Ok, so perhaps nothing has changed from what we already know.

That post almost made it seem like they were doing away with perpetual licenses.

When I was questioning Avid about what these plans were offering, they said that next year the pricing for an annual HD HDX license would be less than the $599 they want now. Time will tell, but I kept the email...

for me in any case :)

Got that email a couple of days ago.

I guess not enough of us 11 owners bought into the annual upgrade/support plan/subscriptions. Now they are forcing us to buy in or it's the end of the road for us.

They are doing away with any stand alone upgrade fees...i.e. you have to have this new All Access Pass in order to upgrade, which is a subscription. Buy your software for $599 for the first year, then pay $99 to stay current. If you let your subscription lapse, then you can buy the software again for $599.

But it's all cool because they threw in some guitar stomp box effects...that were already included in Eleven...but now they are free...sort of. But at least we get support too (technically, since this is all an accounting maneuver in order to credit the money they take in for offering support, shouldn't we get a rebate at the end of the year if we don't use our one included support ticket per year?).

Just another effort by Avid to obfuscate the cost to use their software. Seems like they are going to change the rules and fees about every year or so.

Correction...
$599 for the first year (HD), then pay $399.00 (HD) to stay perpetually current.
HD Laps jumps to $999.00 or more (Length of laps dependent)

Regular Pro Tools is less (But get more in someways)
