Sound Devices Mixpre-D
Anybody use a MixPre-D as a USB interface with PT?

Re: Sound Devices Mixpre-D
The MixPre-D does not use an ASIO compliant driver, and just shows up as a standard sound device when connected to a computer, so I don't think that will work with ProTools.
I'm not sure about the CoreAudio / Mac side, but I'll see what I can find out. |

Re: Sound Devices Mixpre-D
Thanks. I'm looking to upgrade and it's for a late MacBook Pro.
SD says in their manual: "USB class-compliant device, analog input to USB output, USB monitoring in head- phones" |

Re: Sound Devices Mixpre-D
I contacted Sound Devices about using the MixPre-D with PT on a Mac and they said you should have no problems with the setup. You should be able to choose the MixPre in ProTools and use it like any other audio device.

Re: Sound Devices Mixpre-D
I too contacted them, and searched for another user of Mixpre-D and PT on mac.. found 2 other users.. it's is confirmed it will work.,, although needs external power... not USB powered.
Thanks for checking. I'm going to give it a go... as my G5/002r is long in tooth. |
