Hey Steve-Happy Friday to you. Well, the delays iwhen you hit the play button there is a longer delay than I usually experience. The ATTO is configured properly 20(10) and whis is unchecked. The larging rigs I've used are w/ 32 fader ProControl and dual monitors. These rigs have a very slow redraw so I would figure it's because of the second video card. Unfortunately I can't put the ATTO in the biege write now cause it's in use but I'll try it next week! I curious have this card will perform in the biege system. Also B/W rigs are using HFS Standard formatting. Our biege is using HFS+ and it works great no lags.

Marvin,

Thanks for the additional info. I'd be curious to know how the ATTO does in beige, so if you do get around to it, let me know.

Have a great weekend.

Hi Steve, Unfortunately I've been so busy that I haven't able to do the ATTO switch(that's a good thing). I just got the go ahead to sell our Beige G3 to get a G4. So I need to know about the 39160. I still would rather go with that if your tests have been favourable so far.

Marvin,

No, I'm not on vacation, just incredibly busy.

I can't give the thumbs up on anything until testing is complete.

Marvin,

I've grown to like the ATTO dual channel card. Initially we did have some problems but this are all history now.

Things you have to do to make it fly :
1. Make sure you have the correct hardware ROM for your machine. Check into their web page. If you use with a G4, I believe the ROM version you must get is v1.44.
2. Make sure you format your drive connected to ATTO card with latest version of FWB software. If your drive is not formatted with the correct FWB version, you may have difficulty booting up your system. In that case boot up first then use FWB to mount it and upgrade with FWB driver. Incorrect FWB driver can never play the PT Demo session (the one that came with the PT CD-ROM)properly.

ATTO DC card seems less complicated to me. True dual-channel. Adaptec cards seem a bit confusing to select - some you can't have external and internal connectors being used at the same time, these details aren't that obvious on the product catalog.

I am now using ATTO DC card on Mac G4, PMac 9600 and PT/NT systems. I am confident that it work very well especially if you need to be flexible with your system setup (HD, Jaz, MO, tape drive, etc.)

By the way, I configure systems and we are Digidesign dealer here in Singpaore. We do get our fingers burnt at times...that's how we learn.

Go for ATTO. It is a good card.

My 2-cents...

Regards,
