so that mean Ill have to open my interface to replace the power harness? would it void a warranty of some sort?

If you do it yourself, yes. (and if I recall correctly, digi will make you sign a waiver to this effect) You can, however, send the unit to them or a qualified repair shop and have it done there so that it doesn't void the warranty.

Most people don't want to be (or can't be) without the unit for as long as it would take to send it out for repair, and the self-repair takes all of about 10 minutes (if even that).

I haven't had to do this myself (knock on wood) but there have been quite a few posts on doing this exact thing over the last year. Try doing a search of the DUC for "002 power harness" and you should find what you are looking for. I posted this to tell you that and also to give this post a *bump* in the event that someone who has actually done that will read this and give you some instructions.
