ok here is the other issue...... I deleted the click plug but it keeps coming back.... even after deleting it from the plugs folder and delete immediately from trash... is there another place it resides that it needs to be cleansed from.... dang thing is becoming a "click in the butt"

a few days ago I got the dreaded 6101 error.... and I thought Hmmmmmm clicked ok and kept working then I started getting it fairly regular.... so looked in plugs folder and Clickety Clack the freakin Click Plug is back!!!! from testing over the last few days I think it has to do with sessions that have the Metronome button selected or turned on.... although I'm still testing that theory.

So apart from tossing Click out of the plugs folder and booting from Trash is there anywhere else I need to kill it from? And if I don't have it in the plugs folder how is PT getting it back?

Ok I can confirm. I can delete Clickll.aaxplugin from the plugs folder and delete it from Trash. I can run a search of my sys for Clickll.aaxplugin which comes up with nothing. Reboot then check plugs folder to confirm no Clickll.aaxplugin hasn't sneaked back. I place the window containing my sys file tree opened showing the plugin folder and fire up PT. During the startup process and in particular the plugin loading bit PT loads Click.aaxplugin back into the plugs folder.

So how can I stop this? and where is PT grabbing it from?

And it's doing it not only with click plugins but with all the stock plugins...I want to erase all the plugins I don't use, a bunch of them are stock, and can't delete them from the system. They all come back.....

the work around I have found is, leave ya plugs folder open while PT loads... ESC out of the dashboard if you have it set to load, not sure if that last bit really matters. kill the click plug before you open a session is what I have been doing. Kill click and delete it out of trash..... and carry on..... and everything is rock solid. it will only come back if you restart PT.

Maybe Avid could set an option to load with that plug or not and save me having to do that.... or perhaps someone could write an app to do it.

Ok further testing and reading the avid plugs ref manual pge9.... it directly states under....

Removing Plug-Ins on Mac

yadda...yadda... Do one of the following....
* Drag plug-in the the Plug-Ins (Unused) folder
* Drag plug-in to the trash and empty the trash.

But clickety clack its back next time you load PT..... a bug?

At some point, they made it so that when you launch PT, it creates the factory plugins if you have removed or deleted them.

I don’t know when they implemented this, but it caught me off guard too. Maybe v2018... maybe v12. I don’t recall this being the case in v11.

I’ve been getting some CPU errors that have become repeatable, so I’m trying to figure out if it’s a rogue plugin and was perplexed when I noticed the reinstallation of the stock plugins.

IMHO - it’s not a good thing. There’s probably only a handful of stock plugins I use. If I don’t want the rest there, that should be my choice.

This method works for me.
Righ click on Pro Tools app.
Select "Show Package Contents."
Open the folder "Contents".
Open the "Plugins" folder
Open the "Core Plug-Ins" folder and delete what you do not need.
I hope this helps you. Excuse my bad English.
