Default Creating drums ?

Good day everyone,

Many years since I created drums patterns back when I had my ASR10. All these years I've been recording real drums, and been out of the loop (NO PUND), lol. Anyhow I know there's great programs out there, such as Fruity Loops, Reason and such. I would like some advice on which program is the easy to grasp, and maybe perhaps the most convincing also that can be used in one of my inserts in Pro Tools 9. I currently have Xpand, and Boom.

Strictly just for my own personal use. THANK YOU

The hardest thing will be finding a drum virtual instrument that is RTAS. Pro Tools 11 and forward has changed to AAX format 64 bit only. Many plugin manufacturers have also dropped RTAS.

Also, knowing what style of drums you want would help. Are you talking about Electronic drums? If so I would say Battery 4, Geist 2, Tremor, etc...

Or Acoustic Drums?

In that case check out BFD3, Superior Drummer 3, Addictive Drums, Slate Drums, and plenty more. It depends on the features you want.

BFD3 and SD3 have an included groove editor, some of the others you would program in the piano roll and/or drag out MIDI patterns and put them together.

There are plenty to choose from. It Might Get Loud and Audio Assault have some less expensive drum VI's.

Whatever you choose, make sure it is RTAS unless you are planning on updating to the latest version of Pro Tools.

Pro Tools 9 comes with Boom which has several electronic kits. For real drums I would say get Kontakt Player if they still make RTAS and use Sennheiser Drummica.

Thanks for chimming in. I do have a entry version of BFD that came with my with 003 package, will install and see if that is workable.

Watch a clip on Kontakt, looks very cool. Electronic drums I'm not hip too. Looking for more of acoustic kits. THANKS A MILLIONS.

I wonder what is the most popular ?

Maybe try to buy a second-hand license for Addictive Drums 1 or EZDrummer 1? Both of those worked very well for building real-sounding drum tracks(using the built-in midi loops and/or playing the parts in with some kind of midi controller).

Long time no see buddy. I'll look into that for sure. I still have my ASR10 for a midi controller, and the ASR10 can do the job, but the convertors are ancient, but still sound okay. Time to jump in and learn something new.
