Default PT 8 freezes at 0:00 when bouncing

Pro Tools 8 freezes during a bounce right when it gets to 0:00, requiring a forced quit to exit the program, and a computer restart to open Pro Tools again. This freeze is sometimes preceded by buffer errors (9129). This problem doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen often enough to be extremely frustrating.

Can you let us know which steps from the General Troubleshooting thread you've done? Which drive are you bouncing to? Which one has your audio files and Pro Tools session? Which Digidesign hardware are you using?

You're in the wrong thread, by the way.

Thanks for your reply.

I have followed ALL the steps from the General Troubleshooting Thread.

Drive F contains the Pro Tools session, and I am bouncing to Drive E.

I'm using MBox 1

I'm sorry. Which thread should my post be in? In any case, it looks like Tech Support found me.

So you've tried bouncing to a different drive - did anything change? Have you tried disconnecting the USB drive during the bounce? Is this problem something new or has it always been problematic? If it's a new problem - what changed between when it was working and now?

How are you doing the bounce - are you selecting an area in the timeline or not?

Default Re: Report you PT8 exp. here

I upgraded from 7.4.2 on OSX Tiger 10.4.11. Downloaded PT8 installed it. Nothing. . .Realized in my enthusiasm, I failed to check system requirements! (My first time doing that).
Next day installed Leopard 10.5.5, booted PT. Crashed as it uploaded the plug-ins. Used the Pro Tools Plug-in Manager program and disabled DigiRewire. It worked. Closed PT, re-enabled DigiRewire in PT Plug-in Manager and opened PT again. Worked.

Currently, I get random "Buffer Under Run" errors with only one or two plug-ins. (Yes, I have adjusted the playback engine settings).

I also randomly get the "Lost communication with hardware interface" error box, but PT doesn't close. Although, sometimes PT will close out of nowhere.

Some sessions it happens a lot and others, it never happens. I have attempted to isolate a common denominator in the problem sessions but found none so far. I have checked the system usage meters and had no luck there either. I will say that I am getting a higher RTAS usage in the meter, even with no plug-ins inserted.

Two, third party plug-ins that don't work on my system any longer are Analog Factory (full version), and MOTU's Ethno.

I will say that when PT8 is working, it is very cool, but so far I have gotten in the habit of hitting save, often.

You need to verify that all installed plug-ins are up to date and remove any that are not compatible. Information can be found in the General Troubleshooting thread...
