Default Importing DNxHD video, aspect ratio stretched.

Hi,
I imported this DNxHD video(original size 1080x540, =16:8) to my session but looks like Protools stretched the video to 16:9 automatically.
Is there any way to make Protools keep the original size?

*The original video I got from my client was mp4, H264, 1080x540.
*When I import this original mp4, Protools keeps the original size. but mp4 doesn't play well.
*I converted this mp4 to DNxHD using Quicktime Pro. Setting is Avid DnxHD Codec, 1080p/23.976 36 8bit, size custom 1080x540.
*Converted video says 1080x540 and if I open on Quicktime, it looks 1080x540.
*I tried MPEG Stremclip too, same result.

Is there any setting I'm missing when I convert?
I wanna use DNxHD because it plays much better than mp4 even though the file size is much bigger.

Any idea/advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

My system:
Mac Pro 5,1 (Mid2010) 2x2.66 Ghz - 6core Intel Xeon
Memory:48GB 1333Mhz DDR3
OSX 10.10.5
Prootols 12.5.0

When you do the convert, choose to maintain original proportions and pad/letterbox as necessary (both options) and then use a standard dimension (1280x720). This will insert black bars at the top and bottom to maintain the aspect ratio.

DNxHD/DNxHR do not actually have "custom sizes" in their specs (you can look up their tables)

DNxHD cannot support weird resolutions. DNxHR is fairly flexible with custom sizes.
Converting to DXnHR could give you that option. FWIW Resolve Studio definitely does flexible size DNxHR exports. I am not sure that Resolve Free does.

Thanks everyone!
I did letterbox and 1280x720 and worked! Thanks BScout.
I didn't have DNxHR option in my QTpro or Mpeg stream clip but anyway, very happy here.
Thanks again.
