Lost PT9 ilok license by upgrading to 10/11 and 10 crashes when opening v9 sessions
I was just as excited as everybody to get my hands on the long awaited 64bits version of PT so I jumped and bought the upgrade to be ready when 11 is out, without the intention of actually installing 10. Big mistake!!!
The ilok licensing is deleting the PT9 license adding 10 and 11 so when I tried to run PT9 that was installed, big surprise! I don't have a ilok license for it. Are you kidding me? OK. let's install 10 then... well..... v10 is freezing when opening the old session so practicaly I can't touch my sessions until 11 is out hoping that 11 will be able to open the old v9 sessions without crashing. I can't go back to 9 because I don't have ilok license for it anymore so I'm in a big trouble right now. What was the point in deleting PT9 license with the 10/11 upgrade? Anybody has a workaround? Thanks in advance! |

Make your system run PT10

Open PT. Create a new session. Open your window that contains the PT 9 sessions and drag the session into your Edit window. The import session data opens.... Select all tracks to create "New Track" and select to import ALL session data. This will import the 9 session into your new 10 session and should work from there... just save as PT 10 once you have imported the data and your good to go.
Also you should delete your preferences.... Instructions on how as long as you are running version 10.x-10.3.4 (10.3.5 has different folder locations than these directions) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VG3TxshRU7Q

nope. That doesn't help. Still freezing on importing.

Hold SHIFT while opening one of these sessions. If that allows the session to open, then you have a bad or outdated plugin.

I just felt like this deserved some attention...
It looks like at least some of the Avid folks are trying to deal with our problems and keep us happy...
