Axiom 61 new gen vs pro and differences?

Hello everybody.

I'm looking at an Axiom 61 for my pro tools and I don't really know what to chose between new gen and pro. From the pictures I like the piano keys on the new gen but I also like the extra buttons from pro though I think pro looks really cheap.
I haven't been able to touch any of them in a store so any feedback on both would be much appreciated.
And if anybody worked with both any comparison would help. I'm interested in the functionality but also the touch feel. I hate cheap plastic.

I have the pro61 it works... its cool. It has not broken... it still feels cheap. I think its just that the plastic on the exterior has no texture. Its too smoothe it works like a champ though just get past the aesthetics

Axiom Pro is flagship. It offers the most functionality and bang. The original poster needs to either read the manuals or search you tube for the exact differences and which cater his/her needs best.

Thanks for all the input guys. I went to the store and tried both. The keys have the same size. The pro has the black keys a bit thicker and they feel nicer so I ended up buyng one. I don't know why they say piano style keys on the second gen. They're the same as on pro.

I ended up buyng the pro and I love it (though I have a problem with it. It's freezing every now and then and stop working in pro tools. I have to restart both the kbd and pro tools to make it work again.) The only bad thing about it are the sliders. I think those on second generation are nicer.

For a combined MIDI Controller and Control Surface, Axiom Pro is quite in depth if you're willing to learn new elements of workflow. Anyways, is Axiom Pro locking up when you are using two or more Group E Rotary Encoders at one time with Avid Audio DigiRack or Creative Collection FX Plug-Ins?

Also can you post what version of Operating System and Pro Tools, please.

If you have seen them both in action, what is the difference??

From what I can see both offer the ability to control or learn controls from plugins etc...

Realistically I would like to map the trigger pads for the acoustic/percussion instruments as well.
