I just got the Toshiba P25-S507 (2.8Ghz). Haven't had a chance to test it out yet, maybe tomorrow. Btw, I never saw a 2.4 in the one of their widescreen laptops. Anyway, any suggestions for a second HD? THe sys drive is only 4200rpm so I figure I'm not get the best results w/out a second HD. PLus, I'm gonna be using the P25 as my main computer for everything, so I'd like to have a dedicated audio drive regardless...NOt sure if I should go internal/external. It has module bays for an optional HD etc., but I'm wondering if I'd be limited to another 4200rpm dirve if I went that route. I dunno. ANy thoughts? Thanks...
I'd go with an external firewire drive enclosure with the WD 80GB or Hitachi 120GB 8MB cache drive. The Bytec enclosures work great for 40.00.

where do you get these bytec enclosures I keep hearing about?

Any results on that 17" toshiba?

That HP notebook sounds nice as well, it wont be until late sept that I am going to buy anyway, so I am eager to see what everyone puts out as far as 17" books are concerned.

I put links on the first post of the "Best System for PTLE" thread above. I think I mispelled Bytec.

I have seen three versions of this laptop. One with 2.4Ghz, one with 2.8Ghz, and one with 3Ghz P4 Northwood. They run off the 865PE chipset with 512MB DDR SDRAM. I like this setup alot. Hope someone gets one of these and does some testing on it. The Toshiba website only lists the 2.8Ghz version but I'd stick with the lower costing 2.4Ghz. I think there was about a 400.00 difference.

There are 4 versins of the P25 now. The 2.4GHz version is only at Circuit City. The 3GHz version at Costco. The other two are both 2.8GHz systems and should be all over the place.
Someone else asked if the VGA port will support a second display, it does. They have the NVIDIA nView feature that has all kinds of ways to configure a second display. http://www.nvidia.com/object/feature_nview.html

Only the 2.8GHz system with Window Media Center has the 5400 RPM hard drive.

I'd love to hear some Davec results too.

Thats awesome, I am very familiar with nview, seeing as I have a GeForce FX 5600, seriously as soon as I see a good DaveC I am going to focus all my money toward getting that baby.

That's the one. I like that one because it has XP Pro so you can take advantage of the Hyper-Threading P4.

I would be interested in finding out the Davec results with Hyper-Threading enabled and disabled. I saw in the Compatibility area of the website that Digi suggests that Hyper-Threading should be disabled. You can disable HT in the BIOS.
