Default Hackintosh - Salvage your HD PCI cards - You Can Do It Too!

I'm strongly considering building a Hackintosh as a VEPro host. Thank you for all the great info!
Q: Can you recommend the quietest chassis-cooling system for those of us that don't have machine rooms?

I don’t know what the quietest would be, but I’m very happy with the Corsair H60.

Hi Jeremy!

Thank you very much for your explanations about to create your Hackintosh to save the pci-x cards.
I'm in the same situation as you were, but with HD2, and I'm seriously taking the decision to replicate your hackintosh.

I don't want ask you about technical things that I'm sure will find and I will resolve, shure!

I only want to know if your hackintosh is still stable with pthd10.

Thanks a lot!, thank you.
Best regards,

Quim

Very stable here! I just upgraded the OS to 10.8.3, and Pro Tools 10.3.3 HD is solid as a rock. My build is over two years old, and the motherboard may be obsolete, but I got to keep my PCI cards, and didn't have to buy an expansion chassis.

If I were putting one together now, I would definitely get a board with SATA 3. Spend some time here looking over the builds, and then go over to http://www.tonymacx86.com and look at successful build for Pro Tools PCI-x. The limiting factor here is the PCI-x, that is *ancient* technology. But there are still great motherboards with these slots, you just have to hunt for a good buy.

Email me if you want my exact build, but you can do way better for about the same money.

Sonorelli...
Hackintosh - Gigabyte GA-H55-USB3, i7-870 2.93 GHz, 32GB RAM

I have the same MB.
It only takes 16Gb of ram.
How are you using 32Gb?
I'd love to know your secret.

If I could use 32Gb of ram with my Hack I wouldn't be thinking about building a new one with the Jetway MB.

Please tell me your secret!

AQ.

No secret, just a brain fart. And egg on my face. My signature is corrected, thank you for pointing out that typo.
