Focusrite ADAT Clicks/Pops
Hi there,
I have a Clarett 8PreX and a Clarett Octopre connected to it via ADAT. When using any of the inputs on the Octopre and recording into Pro Tools 12 via ADAT, I hear occasional clicks/pops. This only happens when using the inputs of the Clarett Octopre via ADAT. If I use the inputs on the 8PreX, there are no such issues. My clock source on the 8PreX is set to Internal and the clock source on the Octopre is set to Word Clock. I have connected the units with a 75Ohm BNC cable. My sample rate in pro tools and the two units match up. I have also tried syncing the clocks via ADAT. I have attached a picture of the noise. It is actually recorded onto a track. The noise is exactly the same type of pop that you get when your clocks are out of sync. But mine are locked. Also when I say occasional, this might be once or twice in 15 mins of tracking on 4 inputs. I have an extremely powerful PC, i7 4790k, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD and obviously the Clarett is connected via thunderbolt. Buffer in PT12 is set to 64 samples. Re: Focusrite ADAT Clicks/Pops
Hi, Does it happen at higher buffer settings? Have you done all O/S optimizations? What happens if you swap the BNC cable and set the Octopre to Internal?

Re: Focusrite ADAT Clicks/Pops
And make sure "ignore errors" is not checked.
Just try a very large IO buffer setting. If the clicks do not go away then you have a clocking problem, if not do then you need to find what minimum buffer size you can work at. |

Re: Focusrite ADAT Clicks/Pops
Hey Tom,
Dealing with the same issue with the 8PreX. Although, I haven't seen someone experiencing it with a Windows machine yet. There's a known bug between the 8PreX and a couple versions of iMacs. I'm running a 5k Retina. I've contacted Focusrite tech support and they've acknowledged the issue and are apparently working with Apple to resolve. https://support.focusrite.com/hc/en-...e-with-my-iMac Let me know if you've found any workarounds! ~ben |
