Default Avid Application Manager System Usage

Good day,

Just curious if there are going to be any memory optimisations for the Application Manager.

As you can see from the below picture:

The only program using more memory than it's helper is my AV. Even the interface of the OS (Windows Explorer) and SQL Server don't use as much memory. Considering this app generally sits idle in the system tray, I'm not sure why the memory requirements are so high. I know in the big scheme of things, 70MB of memory is not a lot, but when you are trying to fine tune your machine down to bare minimum, and something that doesn't even get used uses more memory than something that is crucial to the operation of the system it makes you go hmmm.

Just an observation, and it would be nice to know if memory improvements are fourthcoming. :)

You can always turn it off from system start and just launch it manually when you want to see if there are updates or whatever. I have mine turned off, doesn't effect Media Composer or PT12 in my experience.

Hi Benoni,

That's excellent news, I did not know that. Thank you!

Is the Application Manager the same as the one used for Media composer? For MC I have it turned of by default in my services just as a whole bunch other MC background services I don't want to be running all the time.

Thx
