Post Rack 002 & 002 Mixer working together?

Hey what's up, I'm new at this so I can use a lot of help.
I'm a drummer, I have the 002 rack working with Pro Tools LE 7 in Windows XP, I recently bought the 002 mixer but I'm not sure how to make them work together. Can this 2 (rack & mixer) work together with PT LE 7? If yes, how do I connect them? Or should I keep only the mixer to record?

Thanks everyone!

You cannot use them at the same time on the same system.

I see, would you consider using the mixer is better than using the rack?
1 more question, sometimes when I'm playing back the tracks I just recorded (while using the rack) the sound stops, I can see in my monitor that the tracks are playing but there's no sound, any advice on this?

Thank you so much.

oops, I forgot to ask...
Does the mixer and rack serve to the same purpose? Or is 1 of them meant to do something and the other a different thing?

Please excuse my ignorance but -as you can see- I'm a beginner.

The 002R serves the same purpose as the console version, but without the obvious control surface hardware. It's really up to you which you prefer.

What are you using for monitors? Check cables would be the first thing to do I think.

Thanks for the answers, I think I'll just keep the console.
For monitors I use 2 RP5 Rockit 5, I checked the cables and everything seems to be in right order, usually the sound goes out when I'm using the guitar rig plug-in, could this be the cause?
Thanks.

If that's the only time you lose sound it's a good indication of the problem.

Plugins from time to time need to be updated to remain compatible with the version of Pro Tools you are running (or Vice-Versa).

Whilst it may not be absolutely necessary, if I were in your situation I would upgrade to PT8.0 then it's free to 8.05. You could probably pick it up cheap on eBay .

Here's a thought
Sell both and get a 003 Console.
They are are easy to find cheap now priced from $650-950 and would upgrade your software and hardware.

I have owned 2-002 Consoles and 1- 002R and they still scared me until the day they were gone.

Put the console in standalone mode not connected to ptls, use 002r as the ptls interface.
Now connect the console via ADAT to the 002r.
The console will pass all inbound audio to the adat connection pre fader. this will pass to the adat on the 002r and bang 16 channels.

I think its will only go to 44.1, but its been a very long time since ive done that.

Also have to set the clock on the console to external, or vice versa with the 002r.
