Smile Want to Import Wav - Not Convert

I had Protools 8 and used to import WAVs created on my keyboard into it. The sound would be beautiful. When I would convert the finished song (with vocals) to MP3 however I would get these annoying clicks. It is because in the conversion process the sound can be degraded if one is not careful.

I just had that same problem again now this time with just the WAV file itself, directly importing into ProTools 9. When importing a WAV the dialog box indicates that it is "converting" the file. The file is full of pops and clicks in a new session. I thought it was due to compression and degredation. It was not.

I tried importing other kinds of files such as MP3 to see what would happen. As fate would have it, I imported an Mp3 file with a blank space at the beginning. I was able to hear that the clicks were rhythmic with emphasis on the up beat, and realize that there is a click track in ProTools 9. I deleted it. No problem.

I am leaving this solved post here, in case anyone else can be helped. Otherwise go ahead and have a good laugh.

Default Re: Want to Import Wav - Not Convert

You may want to use a better converter for making your MP3 files as I have never had this happen here. But I use Wavelab for MP3 conversion(or back to wave format).
