The struggles of the Aboriginal People in Australia are dear to my heart. They remind me of the Native Americans here in the US. I identify with them. Years ago I watched "Rabbit Proof Fence" and it changed my life. I remember watching footage of the making of the film and how the cast was moved after the abduction scene. That is why I am committed to teaching my students to use this immersive technology to help change the world's mind and inspire people to support the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Isn't it strange how we can live in a democracy but it stops when we step into the job and have to deal with the "inhuman relations" department?! By the way I'm preparing to get VR headsets(the kind you put your phone into) for all my students so that I can communicate with them through 3D audio and 3D video on YouTube. This way I'll have a way to keep them engaged when we have to go back out due to the pandemic. I've got ProTools Ultimate>Dolby Atmos Production Suite>Dante Virtual sound card on a 2013 MacPro(jelly jar). I found a Dolby Atmos Interface DAC3202 on eBay and I'm hoping I can use it as an audio interface and get it to communicate with the DAPS. I got a good deal on the DAC3202 and I'm hoping I can get it to work. Originally I was connecting a Vizio 5.1.2 soundbar as an interface but Apple's Audio MIDI Setup doesn't recognize height speakers! I can create .mp4 masters and play them back on Windows 10 running Dolby Atmos for Home Theater and the soundbar decodes it perfectly! Even when I use Dante Via to send the audio from Dolby Atmos Renderer on the Mac to the Windows PC the soundbar shows up as 7.1 and not 5.1.2! No Height Speakers! Is this a conspiracy or something? Any help will be greatly appreciated. It has taken me years to get all this together and $4K on an audio interface is a little steep.

I am not sure that the DAC3202 is going to work. The best people to help will be people you do cinema installations as they will understand the capabilities of the DAC3202. It is designed as a theatrical interface for routing the Dolby Atmos audio from the DCP into the existing speaker arrays in a cinema.

If you are looking to use Dolby Atmos for VR, which is a very clever solution, and if you are looking to deliver a binaural mix to go with the VR video, then you can get the Dolby Atmos Production Suite and use it in binaural mode and away you go. If you want to use a 5.1.2 or even a 7.1.4 speaker array so you can mix on speakers then you are going to need an interface that can support a monitor path with that many speakers. You could go for an Avid MTRX Studio, or a most cost effective solution is a Focusrite Red 16Line.

I appreciate your advice. I'm speaking with Dolby cinema support and they're helping me get the DAC3202 to communicate with the DAPS. I do have Dolby Atmos Production suite and I'm hoping to use DAPS in place of the DCP. I like what you're saying about using binaural. I would still love to show the live demo in the school auditorium.
