Default Updating bios and chipset drivers

Hi all,

I am trying to improve my systems performance. I have not updated the BIOS or the Chipset drivers or the motherboard drivers as yet. Messing around with those sort of things may be a little beyond me.

I know I have an Intel D865PERL MOBO.
I know I have an Intel p4 3.00ghz processor

My questions are,

How do I know what Chipset I am using?
How do I find out if I am running the latest BIOS version?
How do I update the BIOS?
What driver do I need to make the MOBO up to date?

I have been to the Intel site and there are so many to choose from??????

Someone please help me find my way through the mire.

neeel.

All the info you're looking for can be found on the D865PERL page on Intel's Website.

The rule of thumb here for the bios and chipset drivers is:

If it aint broke, don't break it.

its best to install the proper intel chipset drivers when u first install windows, the package includes USB, SATA etc
as for the BIOS im using P19 and its fine but the BIOS version shouldnt make any difference
i updated to P19 as Intel Desktop Control Center wanted the latest BIOS but is doesnt work anyway

just use the CD that came with the board, it has drivers and has a unil for automaticlt d/l any new drivers
