I'm about 73% of the way to a MacBook Pro.

It's either a brand new current spec Lenovo P50, or a refurbished 4 year old MacBook Pro. I'm going to pull the trigger today.

You guys better be right about this.

Did you look at the Sagers I mentioned?

I went to their web site and reviewed their laptops.
They have very nice specs and the prices aren't bad.
I would call them and discuss my wants and needs with them if I was in the market for a laptop. Glad you brought them to my attention.

Looking at them now. I'm liking the NP7256. Not a fan of the multi colored back lite keyboards on their other models.

I know Kris75 has said they kicked butt in his experience. That is likely my next choice for my mobile rig. They will smoke any MBP on the market and completely customizable. They will also hold 2 hard drives, 1 M.2 for the OS and 1 2.5" drive and have gobs of options.
I bought one of the Sagers for a high end client that absolutely refuses to go Mac. We got a 5790k with a 980 video card, 32 gigs of ram, and a 4k(UHD) monitor.

This thing absolutely slays. When I get another laptop, I will be going with the Sagers as you can basically get desktop components with the z170 chipsets and a killer graphics card. You pay the price for them, but for a portable workstation, they are amazing.

Which specific model did your client get?

What is the build quality like?

They don't make that model anymore, but this is the equivalent to what we bought.

NP9152-S NOTEBOOK

You can now get 64 GB of ram in this bad boy! So crazy for a laptop.

The build quality was comparable to my Lenovo. It's not as robust as a Macbook, but it has worked flawlessly since the day it arrived. It was built as portable video editing computer, but he also needed PT on it.

I would contact them to find out about PT compatibility, but just looking at the specs, everything looks good. Ask them about the bios features.

I will be working with the client tomorrow evening so I will check the bios on his machine.

What do you think about the NP7256?

I am always a bit hesitant to buy a laptop with a mobile CPU for the same reasons that Steve said earlier. The bios is very limited and can cause problems.
