Default Anyone had BAD experience with any lightpipe 8pres

Yup,
another guy,
trying to make his mind up,
wich one of these to buy.

M-Audio Octane
Digimax lt
RME octamic
Mackie ONYX 800r

My situation is this: I live in a remote place, called the Faroe Islands and I don't have the opportunity to listen to these different pre's. What I'm looking for, is something with some sort of direct out, as I'm planning to be able to record conserts and would like to be able to give the front of house a direct feed of the soundsource if their console doesn't have direct out. Also be able to route some of the sound (like drums) directly to the headphone mix to take a load of my computer.
Any of those mentioned will do that and they cost more or less the same and from what I can read, they all have ok-decent preamps. So, I'm planning to buy the one, that is the least hated
Any of you had any BAD experience with any of these or experinced any short commings?

If I had the money, I would just go ahead and buy the Digimax 96, but you know...

I thank you in advance. You guys have already helped alot.
I have read many of your posts in other threads but still I get the impression that they are all the same, more or less.

I have the Digimax LT and haven't had any problems whatsoever and it sounds good to me. My .02.

I've got the orignal Digimax. I like it. It soungs great. The built-in compressors are useless, though. I think the newer Digimax LT does not have the compressors.

Ditto.

It is a workhorse.

Will ALWAYS work..it is a nice clean pre with no nonsense.

This whole project was recorded using the Digimax LT.

And on This project the Digimax was used on drum overheads and perhaps some toms.

It really is a good pre... not "vintage" or whatever. Presonus makes great stuff, and they dont get nearly enough credit.

I had the Behringer ADA8000 (no problems really) and upgraded to the Focusrite OctoPre LE. So far no issues either.

everone has their preference, all get raved about and baged. there is no one pre the best for everything. look at what you will be recording with it and your sytle of music to try and get what suits you
they all seem reliable. the onyx hasnt been out that long so its hasnt had years of use like the others, but the build quality doesnt seem any worse

To confuse you a bit more: I´d recommend the Octane again and again (like so many times before ).
It´s definitely the best in it´s price range.
No hearsay - real life comparisons, only

Yeah, it does have direct out, instrument in and m/s matrix, but it is 2U and it needs a powersupply.
The ONYX has all that but only 1U and has an internal powersupply. However it needs a kinda special multicable for the line ins and line outs.
The RME has an internal powersupply, direct outs and line ins are all jacks but it has no instrument in.
Digimax LT has no instrument in, line out is a workaround with the inserts, and you have to choose between line in and mic. They share the jack. It is however 1U, internal powersupply...

I thank you all for the info.
