Soft Synths and Delay Compensation
I always print to disk my soft synths/Virtual Instruments when I know my production is approved. When I record to disk, should I have delay compensation on when I print the VI? Since delay compensation moves the track ahead by whatever needed sample latency, will this mess with the 'groove' of my other recorded tracks or possible future 'live' overdubs?
Thanks.

Re: Soft Synths and Delay Compensation
If you like what you are hearing with ADC turned on, then go ahead and leave it on and buss the VI instrument or aux track to a record track. Any track that is in input or punched in will suspend it's compensation. If you're routing from external gear, that's a different story involving A/D conversion delay.
I suggest you do some experimentation on your own on a non-project session. It's been very reliable for me. -B |
