Re: ram for a G5
For that system I would say 1 GB or 1.5 GB. If you're doing a bunch of soft-sampler type stuff, maybe 2 GB, but really I think you should be fine w/ 1.5 or even 1 GB.

Re: ram for a G5
It ships with 512 and you have to add in pairs. The 512 chips seem to be priced the best. Personally I would put in an extra 2 GB, especially if you are running any sampler and are not using DFD streaming.

Re: ram for a G5
Do not mix Ram manufacturers/ sizes within a pair. In other words, don't try to mix and match. Any Ram you buy will be sold in pairs i.e. "2GB PC3200 (400MHz) non-ECC DDR SDRAM 184-pin DIMM memory upgrade kit (2x1GB)"
It may not be an issue for you but it has caused alot of people serious headaches. |

Re: ram for a G5
We just ordered one of these boxes (dual 2.5ghz) and we opted for 4gb of memory just to be completely on the safe side if/when we want to call up 4-5 different samplers in one session without an issue. RAM is relatively inexpensive these days and if your spending the money on a top of the line box my suggestion would be to throw as much ram in there as you can afford. Couldn't hurt right?
