I've used it successfully with my Macbook Pro (Intel), and I know others who use a similar setup.

I'm using a new westmere 2.4 dual quad. no problems at all so far as long as I am in 32-bit.

However, I am using LE. I don't know how HD would fare.

For anyone who needs to know how to set your mac up to boot in 32-bit go here:

I have the same chassis with my MBP and I get problems changing the DAE engine size regularly - about once a month. It's like Protools gets it's period and goes hormonal! Unistalling and reinstalling Protools is the only reliable solution I've found so far, and believe me, I've tried everything.

Maybe the 4 slot chassis' are haunted

Lightbulb Re: Anyone running a Westmere MacPro yet?

Reading sme posts here and on other forums it seems that people who have setups with external chassis have problems, the others not.
Others experiences?

Any idea why the Westmere 8-core is 2.4gHz and the pre-Nehalem 8-core I bought 2.5 years ago is a 2.8gHz?

I must have missed the memo on why slower is now more bitchin'.

Just ignore the clock numbers, they are meaningless in this situation. Trust me, the new Westmere is faster.

Wink Re: Anyone running a Westmere MacPro yet?

Every new series of processor has more circuits on it, & it does way more.. as well the motherboard design are more & more efficient & are able to route more processing, graphics & data through bigger pipes.... The speed at which this happens may be higher or slower (the processor speed) but that is more of a sync clock than a measure of computer ability.. usually the newer processors do so much more ,they can't run too fast because of heat, I think that's why when you get the bigger multi core cpus they are clocked slower than the single core versions of that computer... so they may do 2x,8x,12x as much processing but the cpu might run 10% slower... if that makes any sense...
