Default Cannot open older sessions!

I have an 002 with 7.3.1 cs5 running on the latest patch of OS 10.4

I recently tried to open some older ProTools sessions created with ProTools 5 and 6. My main problem is these were burnt to DVD in such a way that the file extensions were eliminated.

So I have to rename the session file, for example, 'song' to 'song.pts'.

My sessions open fine, but all the audio is unlinked. I try to relink the audio manually, but whenever I try to relink a file I get the message: 'one or more files are incompatible in format, sample rate, or bit depth with the audio file you are trying to relink'.

I'm certain I'm relinking the correct file. I've tried renaming all the audio to .sd2 (the format I originally recorded in). To be safe I tried renaming to .wav and .aiff too. No luck.

Any idea what I'm missing? Please help!

Thanks,
Chris

Default Re: Cannot open older sessions!

I think the problem is to do with the following:

when I create a new session, all of the files do not have visible extensions... it will say ProTools on the session file, but there's no .pt* suffix.

Same with the audio and fade files.

when I rename the files manually, the have the suffix, and I think I'm missing some essential information OSX assigns to the files. I'm not very good with macs--- is there anyway to restore this file information?
