Default Massenberg Design Works vs Sony Oxford EQ W/ GML

I have the Oxford EQ W/ GML and am happy with it. I purchased this before the Digi / Massenberg Design Works EQ came out. Does anyone who has expericnce with both have an opinion as to which is better in terms of sound and user interface?

it eats up a lot more dsp. A LOT..... the MDW that is. One could say it's more for the tweaking little twits and twats. Both are transparent. The sony offers more 'sound' possibilities imho with the different types. Which respond differently depending on what you send into it. The MDW is uhm ... 'transparent' I believe is the fashion word most used to describe how it 'sounds'. Either way.... do not forget to check out EQ3. It is very MDW capable in my very humble opinion of course. And it's free.

I find the MDW to be less harsh up the top and generally smoother than the Sony (although I don't have the GML option). The MDW has become my "go to" eq.

I'd second that. To my ears, the Sony EQ also has a harsher sound. I rarely use it these days.

Okay, I'll have to check the MDW out! (Especially since Lee, one of the senior DUC members, reccomends it ;-) As far as DSP usage is concerned, there are many variations of both eq's (filter only, 3 band, etc. ). To make things equal, does a 5 band mono instance of MDW use more DSP than a 5 band mono instance of Sony Oxford?

don't forget to check out McDSP Filterbank. very DSP friendly and i like the sound. it's not quite as smooth as MDW on the top-end, but the filtering controls are great and it sounds good all around.
