Default Broken S3 - cost to repair

Hi-

My studio partner has a well travelled and beat up S3 (missing fader caps, maybe bent too, some buttons are not working, etc). How much would it cost to have it fixed up to work like new? I understand this could be a ballpark based on a few different scenarios.

Thanks,
Josh

Buttons and fader caps I don't know about, but faders are easy to replace. You can buy them yourself, flip the S3 upside down and swap them out. About $50 each.

Mmhmm. Figured that was the deal. Wondering if buttons go that is a PC board swap for the areas affected, or something else. And general cost for those type of things too.

And thanks for the reply.

Digging up an old thread cause I'm in a similar position. I've got two broken switches and an OLED display that's gone out on my S3. The switches still work, though one got a little flakey with me yesterday.

Anybody ever get these fixed, if so, how'd you go about it?

Thx!

Its a little-known fact that Avid offers a reasonable(compared to one off repairs) support contracts for most of its products. The Dock is $99, S1 $129 and the S3 $249. This gets you advanced replacements too where available including shipping. You would have to wait at least a month after taking it out though before using it.

Yep, I did not know Artist series had these options. I assume these are annual contract prices, right? And I know this might be a hard question to answer, but what are ballpark repair costs on broken buttons on Docks and S3s without a support contract? Thanks Eddie!

Therse are not really Artist Series anymore ;-) Without a support contract you have shipping both ways plus a standard charge for anything that needs fixing. I don't know what that is except it's not pretty and certainly more than these yearly fees.

Eddie
Do you have a link to these support contracts? I can’t find them anywhere!
