Default PTHD10 on anything higher than OSX 10.8.5?

Hi,

Is anyone successfully running their HD10 Accel system on anything newer than OSX 10.8.5?

Don't have an Accel system but when I ran PT10.3.1 vanilla I ran it on OSX 10.9.5 no problem. Just the PT uninstaller won't work. From that point on there's various problems like bank insert menus until you hover over them, etc.

In other words forget about going higher than OSX 10.9.5

HD-7 (1 Core+6 Accel) PCI-X in a Digi PCI chassis running very well over here with 10.9.5 Mavericks. Custom made Hackintosh, Dual Xeon X5680 SuperMicro X8DTL-3F 96GB RAM. AMD FirePro W7000 Dual Displays 6x 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD's

Tested Yosemite but there is a Re-draw bug in the Plugin Menu that makes it un-usable.

Tested both El Capitan & Sierra..... ProTools HD 10.3.10 would not launch

Hi,

Ive tried several time to get a system running on Mavericks without success. but then i have a lot of plugins and other programs that all seem happy on lion and mountain lion.

I guess it would then depend on your plugin arsenal really and how much time you're willing to spend trying to get the right versions that will run on Mavericks or above.

Cards will not show up in Yosemite or later. Mavericks works fine, but isn't necessarily better than Mountain Lion. I've now frozen my PT10 partition on 10.8.5 and run PT12 natively on 10.12.6.

I’m with Chris here. I’ve got a dual boot drive with Lion and Maverick on. I track and mix in Lion as it’s rock solid. I boot into maverick when I need to use ozone 8 and the latest kemper rig manager

For what its worth, i've just cloned my main studio HD3/Mountain Lion drive & updated to Mavericks...welcome to 2015 ! whoo-hoo

I had put off doing it, as Mountain Lion was v.stable, but Mavericks seems a bit snappier if anything + desktop dropbox syncing + mail work again properly, which was getting to be pretty annoying before.

If you run an older version of Komplete as I do (Komplete 9 Ultimate) it stops working after the upgrade, the solution is to download a legacy version of their 'Native accession app, put you details in & all is well again.

https://support.native-instruments.c...ating-Systems-

I've tested it with the last 4 album projects i've done, & everything seems fine so far, but I'm keeping the 10.8.x drive around for a month to be sure.

I have to say, it still runs immeasurably better than any native rig i've seen to date, for tracking anyway !

Did you do a clean install of everything or an in-situ one? You know where you follow Apple's way of doing an OSX upgrade.

I know when I made the jump from OSX 10.8.5 to OSX 10.9.5 both PT10.3.10 and PT 11.3.2 seemed to be a lot better to work with. I didn't do a separate system drive but partitioned my system drive. I later split things again to make a third boot partition so I could run OSX 10.10.5 so I could run the at the time newer Waves plugins.

.
Nope. I wasn't sure it was going to work that well, so couldn't be bothered to re-install everything from scratch.

I just:

* cloned the Mountain Lion system drive onto another SSD
* booted from the clone, & ran the Mavericks installer from the desktop .

If I get any problems I'll try a clean install, but I had it looping a heavy session for a few hours on test last night & it was fine doing that at least...if anything smoother GUI than Mountain Lion.

You weren't sure what would work well? A higher than OSX 10.8.5 OSX or a clean install? If the latter then the latter is going to work a heck of a lot better than doing things the Apple Way. Sure you can cut corners but if you want a working money-making system then it's a clean install you want.
