punching in with Groove Cell
Is there a way to do this?
Laying down a live midi drum track with pads and I want to punch in.

Re: punching in with Groove Cell
I added 3 mono audio tracks and used the multi-out of GC to assign to them.
I see it in GC, but don't hear audio. The 3 audio tracks are in input. It seems that GC is only capable of Main out. Unless there is something I'm missing.

Re: punching in with Groove Cell
though the mono input assigns are available, that ain't it.
Need stereo audio tracks and assign to the strip input as below. GC output multi assign.png Kick input assign.png Punch in audio and slide edits as per usual.

Re: punching in with Groove Cell
Unrelated to the multi-output audio aspect of this, why don’t use just punch in on the midi to deal with it there? You don’t even have to use QuickPunch to do it although it can be helpful if using pre-roll.

Re: punching in with Groove Cell
maybe I'm missing something, but when I punch the midi, I get previous rec'd after the punch.
In other words I'm playing with mistakes. Perhaps my config is wrong?

Re: punching in with Groove Cell
It's pretty confusing because GrooveCell is stereo and even thought it's outputs within the plugin appear to be mono, you must use stereo AUX or audio tracks for multi-output routing.
See the attached routing :) You can also use one less track in this setup if you'd like and use the "main output." So the track with the plugin on it could be set up so that the audio output going is going to MON L/R and you can select the kick as going to the "main output" in GrooveCell. To punch in, make sure MIDI merge is off and you can use the regular record mode or QuickPunch and it will work. |

Re: punching in with Groove Cell
thanks. Toggled the midi merge and that has fixed the punch. Try again.
