Default Intel Quad Core

Hi,first time user. I've just purchased an Mbox 2 Mini and wanted to build a new PC to run it on and use for general computing. Will I encounter any trouble with the following rig;
Gigabyte P35 motherboard
Q9450 Quad Core
4 x Gig Corsair 1066 RAM
9800 GTX or 3870X2 video card
2 x 500 gig HD in raid with Vista Ultimate SP1(for general computing)
1 X 320 gig HD with XP Pro SP3 (will use Vista if can get without SP1) set up with PTLE
(Obviously set up as a dual boot system)
22" LG Monitor
Onboard sound(?????)
Thanks for any help.

personally i would seriously think about an ASUS mobo with an X38 chipset (ASUS Maximus Formula X38). there are a couple of documented and ongoin' issues with some the the GIGA mobos right now. you need look no further than the 1st page of this forum to find those discussions also by goin' X38 and Q9450 you'll will take advantage of the 1333 FSB. check the the 1st page of the BEST CORE 2 thread for results and specs if you haven't already. there are also build results of X38 w/Q6600 and a Q9450 w/P35 within the last 10 pages of that thread also. happy buildin'!!!!

What mykhal said...And NO RAID and NO onboard sound or Integrated Graphics. Most would recommend you stick with XP Pro.

Cheers,

The reason for that is the 9800 GTX. Its basically a gaming machine . You could keep the asus' onboard audio IMO. I use it and it workes fine. Not the best qulity, but it gets the job of listening to DVD/CD/MP3 done.

FWIW, I use the on-board audio fed to the AUX inputs on my 003 for playing non-Protools sounds thru my monitors with no problems at all. Agree 100% on staying away from on-board graphics.

the P35's are probably the still most extensively used at this point. but DUC'er 'bladesg', who i consider one of the most knowledgeable cats here, and DUC'er 'polen' have both used the ASUS Maximus Formula X38 in their latest builds with no problems. so for those that still want to play it safer the P35 is still a very good choice. but for those who want to go with the latest in technology and don't mind bein' a pioneer then X38 all the way!!!
