Is back! For MC 8.8
Can we please have it for Pro Tools (with bins) please please please?

I am bringing this thread back from the past. A few times now I've been in sessions where I have a bin full of all the narration for a TV show, and no way to search it intelligently. Would be a great Ultimate feature...

I asked about this issue with a Pro Tools product manager and he indicated they were aware of the long standing request. Availability of Developer time and other higher priorities seem to be holding it back.
I had a conversation with one of the original MC designers (no longer with Avid) of Phrasefind and Scriptsync about this recently. He revealed that he had suggested to Avid Management, just after the MC versions were released, that the designers could relatively easily make versions to work with Pro Tools. Sadly for us that golden opportunity was missed. Andrew

I know that Avid is aware of the request. I'm just making noise. I suspect that part of the holdup is a much larger issue: the bin and the workspace are poorly designed. Avid will someday overhaul the whole thing. We need folders in the bin, and a highly-responsive Soundminer-style interface for managing clips. And is anyone in post actually using Soundbase? Perhaps I haven't given it a chance.

MC got redesigned bins and workspaces with 2019.6. Since then I have noticed more posts in the MC forums about Scriptsync / Phrasefind issues than in the previous 5 years of posts.
My suggestion would be to modify both existing programs to be stand alone and opened from the UI of a PT's session or MC Project. Give them a new modern media management system that allows users to enter different file paths to the sessions media folder. Who knows, it could even allow seamless MC to PT's ScriptSync and Phrasefind workflows. (in my ideal world) Andrew
