Default Stationary Pad audio files becoming separated

HI
Ive a stationary pad, and when I open it and choose New project and save this to my desired location,
the audio files when recorded do NOT end up in this new loacation.

I understand I can change the disk allocations to re-route the audio, but how can i make it so that the recorded audio files always travel as standard (without disc allocation adjustment each time) to the new save location.
Is there a check box or something im missing.

Cheers

Peter

Hi,

Since i stopped using stationary pads i have had no problems with audio files getting lost and un-connected etc.

I just create the new session on the audio drive (or drive location of choice) then i use "import session data" to import all the elements of my previous built mixer!! i have a setup session that has everything already created? all my tracks with assigned inputs etc, my reverbs and effects sends, midi instruments, busses etc etc. so i can pull into the new session any of these tracks that i want. sometimes all i need to import is just my reverb and effecs returns etc and other times i'll import everything. you can also, obviously, import any element of a mixer from any previous session! remember that great reverb sound you had on that mix 4 months ago? just import those tracks/busses/returns with the reverbs inserted and voila.

Hi,
I noticed this problem. Try this:

After saving your new session, close it and then re-open it, now Pro Tools will save the audio files in the correct audio folder.

In detail:
- open stationary pad
- select "new session"
- save (for example name "test session")
- close session
- open "test session"
- now your audio folder is created in the "test session"-folder

Hope it helps.
Timothy

When you save the new session you have to make sure that it is being saved on the root level of the drive. Otherwise it will build a folder in the same place as the template and will place all audio in the TEMPLATE folder. Just back out one folder level when you are saving the new session and you will be alright. Also, make sure that if you are using stationary pads to open from the FILE menu, not double clicking the stationary pad. Double clicking will save it back to the stationary pad folder everytime (not to mention make a copy of the stationary pad which will end up frustrating you to no end).

On every drive that I have, I have a folder named 'Templates'. I put a copy of my templates on each drive.
Then just launch the template from the drive you want to record on.
The only down side is, that if you change your template, you have to make copies and put one on each drive. But this doesn't happen too often.

That's the way I do it.
I also try to keep different drives or partitions for different client workflows too.

HEY DIGI WE NEED A "SAVE AS TEMPLATE" OPTION IN PRO TOOLS ! PLeeeeeesse

Hopefully we will see this feature soon. There is no reason why there is no "Save as Template" option.

The sationary pad method just Does Not Work in OSX as you would expect.

Jeremy,

what doesn't work for you with the stationary template. I use the template all the time.
