Default Projects between PC and Mac

I am just about to go from Steinbergs Nuendo to PT. Im doing postproduction for TV-programs.

I am working on PC, but about to buy Mac also.

Do you know if there are there any issues when moving PT-projects between MAC's and PC's?

Thank You!

Moogens

Hi Moogens,
Yes. You're going to run into may problems transferring session between Macs and PCs. Really there are only a couple of ways to transfer sessions successfully. This is how I do it. Normally, I get session of a mac formatted drive. If the session was made on a mac, you're safes to get mac HFS+ drives and mount them on your PC using Mac Drive 6. Then open the session from the mac drive and either just work from the mac drive or save the session using save session copy in function in PT. Hope this helps.
Peace,
Brandon

Start all sessions with PC/Mac compatibility for starters.

You can "Save Session Copy" with that option as well. Test your setup thoroughly before using it for production. Digidesign is not known for flawless file management in its Protools software.

No matter what. The only way to guarntee that all the files you need will be int he session is to do what someoen else has said. "Save session copy as".
Select BWAV as the fiel format, and copy ALL files must be selected.
Also, enforce MAC-PC compatability.
Then you shoudl be fine.

This is no longer an option in 7.x as it's always enforced now. Maybe they couldn't find a way to fix their spelling so they dropped it. I always got a little chuckle because they had it spelled "compaibility" on the New Session dialog.

I thought 7.2 on PT is even able to directly record to a HFS+ volume. At least it´s advertised.

frank.
