Default Should I upgrade 6.7 to 7.4? Want to use Strike ...

Hey guys/gals,
I recently purchased Strike software for drums and installed, but now need to upgrade to a 7.x version of PT. I'm always wary of this. The old adage "if it isn't broke, don't fix it" comes to mind. Because it was so much hassle to originally get my setup going, and that it works good now ... i'm just really leary to upgrade. Can anyone offer any advice/suggestions? Is it seamless as some claim? Do I just download from Digistore in matter of minutes and ready to roll into next session?
appreciate any info or help .

Yeah, well that was enough to scare me off ; ) I think i'm going to stick to my instincts and just stick with 6.7. Again, i went through similar issues just getting 6.7 up and running. I don't need another 4 days straight of installing/uninstalling/installing etc ...
I've got to agree with a lot of people who have commented on this before: why does this have to be some complicated?? PT is such a great program ... once you finally jump through all of the hoops and make sure that every single piece of you Computer matches the compatibility charts, etc ... I guess i just don't understand why it can't be a seamless program that is compatible to most computers out there? Almost every other Audio program out there is. I'm just really surprised a company like Digi won't make theirs so.
I've had a lot of friends look at moving to PT. I give them the good with the bad speech: if you have the patience and large amounts of time to research and figure it out, its great if you can get it to work. Most don't want the headaches and decide against it.
Need to be clear here: i love using PT now that i have it working. But it was a nightmare to get it there, and seems like every thing I've tried to do since (change to a new computer; add to my laptop; add new plug ins; etc ...) has been a similar headache and take days of trial and error.
anyhow, I appreciate your reference to your post. I'm sure it was meant as a "follow these steps and you'll be ok" ... but it reminded me that I have no desire for this stress again. I'll stick with my current setup while it works. If it ever stops working, if Digi hasn't made this simpler to get set up, i think i'll have to jump ship.

Ok, so looks like no matter what Drum Software i get, i've got to get up to PT 7 or above.
I'm ok spending the $75 to upgrade from my 6.9. My concern is how hard it is to do so? Is it as simple as downloading the 7.4 from Digistore, and i'm ready to go (much as upgrading from 6.7 to 6.9 was)? Or ... and this is my fear ... am i going to have to uninstall current version, and reinstall a whole bunch of stuff? Please please tell me it will be easy ... and i will be sold
I now have Strike and EZDrummer, and it seems that neither are going to work properly until i upgrade my PT.

any help appreciated guys/gals

I agree with albee1952 on this one, upgrade after you've finished your projects! Once done, cleanse your system, download and install. Simple.

thanks for reply ... what do you mean by "cleanse system"?
for upgrading to 6.9 from 6.7, i simply downloaded the update, and was good to go? Is it just as easy for this upgrade?

7.4 is a full installer. You'll need to uninstall any previous version of PT on your system.

You'll also need to run the 7.4 Plug-In Updates and 7.4 Optional Toolkit Installers.
