Default What is a good MIDI controller for playing Transfuser?

What do you guys use to play Transfuser in realtime? I am looking to add another little MIDI synth/controller just to easily play Transfuser?

The 6 smart knobs are the key thing I guess.

Well, since Transfuser has the MIDI learn feature, I would think that ANY decent MIDI controller that had enough knobs or sliders to control what you want in Transfuser would work just fine. In my setup, my main MIDI controller is my Yamaha Motif XS8...which is way more than you seem to want. Just curious, but are wanting to play Transfuser in a live situation or just for recording? If the latter, I normally just use automation for anything I want to do in Transfuser.

Recording situation.

I end up assigning smart knobs to stuff like 'effect on/off' which is really should be a button. But all I have is my Novation synth with knobs, so this on/off function becomes a point ay 12:00 on the knob. I'd rather have a button?

Or else, I set a knob to control the scratch type in beat cutter. That has like 8 settings? So I end up trying to control that little knob. Would rather have more control I guess, like 8 settings that I can tell which one I am on.

Best bang for the buck: the Korg nano series controllers, especially the nanoKontrol. You get 8 knobs, 8 faders and 24 buttons, plus buttons for transport control.

Does your XS8 actually transmit MIDI cc's for all the controls? My ancient Motif 7 doesn't. Program change, pitch bend, mod wheel and volume and that's it. Then again I use 5 pin MIDI connection and not the USB port (I don't have the Yamaha software to do that).

Thanks. I like the controls on the nano, but it is pretty small. Seems like it is designed for being portable. The price is right though.

Any opinions on this guy: http://www.akaipro.com/product/max49

I really like the LED sliders because you can jump to settings. So I am hoping that when I assign the scratch control, I can jump between the 8 settings.

Hopefully most of the buttons are assignable too.

What I really wish for is a controller where the names of the knobs could be programmed so you could see names on the controls when you call up the patch in the DAW. Like the control would say Scratch Type, or a knob would say Filter Frequency.

I use Transfuser a lot as an effects module sending it audio tracks and using it as a dynamic effects processor.
