Issues bouncing Video in Pro Tools 2022.9 or 2022.12

Hello All,

I have been running into issues when bouncing audio into video (Pro Res 422) using Pro Tools Ultimate 2022.9 or 2022.12.

I have a stereo fold down that I use for sending approvals for remote clients that feeds off of my main 5.1 monitor path.

When selecting this as a bounce source, about half the time the video exports MOS. I have to repeat the bounce process two or three times to get audio to bounce properly into the MOV.

When audio does get into the MOV, it is not always in sync.

This is a big issue for us.

These are new (less than 2 week old) fresh builds:
Mac Pro(Cheesgrater)
96Gb RAM
OSX 10.15.7
Pro Tools 2022.9

Has anyone else seen this? If so, what did you come up with as a solution?

Can't help you but just for a data point I do this exact thing on 2022.7 and it works every time.

I am using the 'Same as Source'.

I went down to 2022.7, and still have the same issue.

As I mentioned, it might not happen, or it will happen several times in a row.

Are you using a video device like an AJA or BM?

We are using AJA IO4k+ with the 16.22 driver, and I wonder if that has anything to do with this. It shouldn't, but stranger things have happened.

EDIT:

I have done some testing with this and I think there is some sort of conflict going on at the system level.

I have done 50+ bounces to video today from the same session. About half have come back with no audio.

I tried on my local drive.

I tried on a SAN.

I tried out of the stereo bounce path I had setup for this.

I tried out of my hardware out 1&2 (MTRX)

I tried 3 different AJA drivers, in case that had anything to do with it.

I tired with the AJA device disconnected (AJA IO4k + Thunderbolt 3).

I am also noticing that on the finder level that the system audio will sometimes have issues playing back any sound. It will sometimes play very late (10+ frames) or glitch.double the audio. Other times it won't play at all.

We are using JAMF to build these systems out, but I am wondering if some security setting is getting missing on the install which is causing conflicts.

I'm using an Aja T-Tap (through the Apple TB adapter)

Interesting point about JAMF. PT is so finicky I wonder if it's related.

Do you have the option to print your fold down in the session and then export the QT with only that track routed to its own aux? I've used this workflow for running broadcast mixes and web mixes simultaneously. -24 and -18 each have their own print track and their own aux for outputting QTs. Once the print is done, the export is fast as long as you're not transcoding. Also using "Same as source" but ProRes proxies. Fortunately I have been blissfully unaware of this anomalous behavior using this in my template. I realize it's an extra step but might provide a workaround until you can hunt down the gremlins.
