Default Yamaha 4260t DRIVERS

Okay, I got screwed by an authorized Digi dealer, who told me the newest Yam 4260t drive was approved, and contained the same mechanism as the 400 series. Digi, of course, say Not True. But, accoring to my programming friends, writing a driver for this drive will take about 1//2 hour and that writing drivers is one of the first lessons in beginning programming. Since all the stores are now selling this unit, what can be done about getting the new driver posted-without having to wait for the NEXT EDITION of MLCD?

Default Re: Yamaha 4260t DRIVERS

I'm sorry if the dealer led you to believe that the 4260 is MLCD approved. The confusion may have come about because the latest CDR 400s do indeed have the same mechanism as the 4260. This does not mean that the 400 driver works with the 4260. It doesn't. MLCD is a complex program that requires specific drivers for specific devices. And while your programming friends may have experience writing drivers for some other applications in a half an hour, I assure you that this not possible with MLCD. Because the 4260 is the number one requested burner that people have requested support for, support for it is high on the priority list for the MLCD development team. As with any software development, no exact date on when something that is not finished yet will be finished. We are definitely working on it, and your suggestions are noted and appreciated.
I've got my eye on the 4260 myself, so I'm waiting along with you. Thanks.

I'm happy to report that the new version of MLCD 2.1 supports the Yamaha CDRW 4260. Support is bulit into the application for each supported device, however, so there is no way to post individual drivers for individual devices.
