But this doesn't affect everyone - my friend with a new 12-core just did an update (not clean install) to ML and 10.3 and hasn't had any problems.

Did you do a clean install of ML?
BTW - I did a clean ML install last night, turned off and/or removed everything not needed for PT. Worked great for about 10 minutes, then back to the same error.

So, imho, a clean install or both ML and PT does nothing to improve the problem.

Here's what I did to stop these:

1. I removed /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.afpstat.plist
2. Then removed directory /Library/Caches/com.apple.coresymbolicationd
3. Final step, booted into safe mode, then re-booted again

All the sandboxing errors, and therefore 9171 errors went away for me, haven’t had one since.

I've also seen suggestions to turn off "Wake for network access" in Energy Saver.

Obviously, do this at your own risk, your mileage may vary, no guarantees, etc…

Thanks Chris. I'm going to do this as well. BUT FYI, Turning off "wake for network access", then booting in safe mode (hold shift while booting) and letting mac do it's thing, then rebooting the regular way seemed to have fixed the problem. Only one error in two hours of an intense plug-in heavy high track count mix.

Thank you thank you thank you!! for posting this. After weeks and calls with Avid your post was the only thing that fixed my system.

Tracked for 4 hours yesterday at lowest buffer on (HD NAtive) and was flawless. Thanks!
