I can say one thing. If I trash the plugin pref, or install a new version of ProTools, I have to take at least half of them out of the folder. Then have protools scan. Then quit and put the other half in the folder and the let it scan again.
After that, protools won’t crash and give me the error and it accepts all the plugins. This has been going on for a few years. So something is going on.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think part of the problem is we don't know what PT considers an appropriate amount of plugins before the scan barfs. I don't think even Avid knows themselves.
