Default dynamic EQ/Comp plugin

hi there!

i'm looking for a dynamic eq/comp plugin.

i tested the serato comp in dynamic mode and this one works pretty well i think. are there any other plugins like that, bx dynEQ maybe, anyone tried that? they have these usb stick authorization like waves v9 now which i find quite boring. imagine everybody would show up with their own usb auth thingy...

thanks

Hi, actually yes, they do show up with their USB auth thingy, that is how it works

Rane has one, but AFAIK only single band. There are several multi-band dynamics plugins, that are not quite EQ's. But Waves's C6 is the one that has 4 band multi + two points of pure Dyn EQ. This is very popular.

thanks!

any idea of how much dsp the c6 uses and latency compared to, lets say, mc404?

waves c6 mono is 48% dsp and stereo was somewhere 65% dsp. latency of waves plugins are on their website. i believe on technical support.

actually that would strike the waves c6 off the list. 48% of dsp is too much for me as i'm on an sc48. serato/rane is about 25% and works fine. what about mc404?

Don't forget C6 is much more complicated device compared to serato and I would go as far as say C6 is way more efficient, per band that is. With McDsp the cool thing is you can choose how many dynamic bands you need and so you end up being able to use the DSP more efficiently!

Oh and what comes to latency mcdsp is much faster, 2 samples vs 60 or so if compared to waves

Mc2000 dsp usage from manual (@44.1 so venue might be higher a bit)

MC2 (mono)
10%
MC2 (stereo)
15%
MC3 (mono)
15%
MC3 (stereo)
24%
MC4 (mono)
20%
MC4 (stereo)
33%

well. the mcdsp mc2000 (mc4) made it. suits my ways the most i guess. even though it is not able to share a dsp right now, but it is still worth it as you can have a couple of multibands here and there.

for vocals: i can take care of deessing, harshness in 2-4khz range, and boominess in 250 without affecting the midrange to much. this is where you basically have 3 plugins in one.
