Prices look great to me, and a very reputable seller. You'd still need a digi interface, or compatible interface.

thanks for your thoughts - is there a list of compatible interfaces

i thougt that you were required to use a digi i/o (with the option of 3rd party expansion...such as my firestudio adat conections)

can you get away without using a digi i/o - if so, what do you suggest?

Well, I think digi only officially supports digi interfaces. For HD that would be the 96 i/o and the 192 i/o (and their variants). They both have digital connections you can use (adat, aes/ebu, spdif) to connect your digital gear.

There are several others that work just fine, though not officially supported. I can highly recommend the Lynx Aurora 16 with the LTHD card. The Aurora 16 shows up in Pro Tools as 2 digidesign 192's. You can use the Aurora 16 with LTHD card without a digidesign interface.

The 96IO is the best bargain, but not in the same league as the 192(or the Aurora). The good thing is that you can go the 96IO route to save money now, but have it upgraded later on by Black Lion Audio.

Not sure exactly what BL upgrades, probably the converters. Check their website for the details.

We have a 96 i/o here as well, and it sounds just fine as is. Not as good as the Aurora, but I've never really had issues with the quality or sound of it.

the issue with keeping the 003r is that i can't run hd on her

for now i'm placing my intended hd purchase on hold until shane over at the reaper forum has had the opportunity to map pt onto reaper...if this works then I'll try a

PTeaper affordable approach prior to buying into hd proced adc (cause HD's a huge purchase price...to gain adc...whew)

PTeaper may well work out well for me, and countless others...crazier things have happened - thumbs up to shane!

i figure good things come to those who wait - just what are digi intending to replace HD with in the near future...hum?

PTeaper may key me happily adc'd until digi throws us a serious new bone

i'm a huge fan of pt and want to stay - i just need digi to raise the bar...toward where the competition has placed it...adc...64...unlimited trackcount...and more

so while waiting...i'm dating other daws...and failing to be monogamus
