Default Digi-001 functionality.

Will the Digi001 box enable audio signals to be routed through it and heard out the master outs without PT software running??I dont want to have to have ProTools running all the time with record enabled.

Will Digi001 act like a mixer or a thru box??

Yes you'll be able to monitor inputs 3-4 without powering on the host-computer. Any input coming in 3-4 will be routed directly out to the monitoring output and the volume can be controlled by the main Vol knob on the front panel.

Is that a feature to bypass latency?

And can we expect any latency while overdubbing or tracking?

That was a feature designed to enable you to connect a CD or DAT or whatever stereo device you would like to monitor while the computer is off.

There's a small amount of latency (as there is in any host based system). There are various settings you can make to minimize the effect. For instane when you're doing overdubs you can set the buffer at a small setting like 128 or 256. When you're mixing you an go up higher to allow for more plugins ect....
On a blue and white g3 or g4 the latency issue is not a problem. I've played with drummers who were more latent than the 001.
