Default connecting tracks after splicing out unwanted parts?

I'm having the dog gonest time trying to figure out how to paste tracks pieces together after I cut out dead air, hiss, and unwanted pieces in the track. anybody know this trick? I know it's simple and if it was a snake it'd bite me so tell me what to do so I can get past this hurdle.

any info is highly appreciated. thanks in advance.

I think you want to try Shuffle mode for editing

I think you mean "slip" mode and I understand that. but what I'm trying to do is actually connect all the parts and move the whole thing as one piece. How can I do that? Is there no paste feature in Pro Tools?

A bit vague on what you are trying to do...

However,

If you have an audio tack, say toms or a vox track, that you highlight and delete all of the dead space in, and you wish to make one track out of the remaining pieces, (leaving them where they are), highlight an area the length that you want and hit CTRL-SHFT-3 (is that CMD-SHFT-3 on a mac?), or go to the EDIT menu and select consolidate. That is probably what you want.

Some folks prefer to use fades on each region and just leave the gaps.. Others use fades and record to a new track..

Whatever floats your boat I say..

Peace!

I miss under stood, I thought you wanted to cut out (say a cough) and have the 2 regions but up together. That would be Shuffle.
