@ K Roche - I'm never going to fight a battle about forum semantics with you. You're a pro at this

All I will say is - the tide of opinion of the vast majority of users who post here seems to be against Avid. Whether you again choose to take this as some kind of personal attack I don't know, but do whatever you want as it's utterly unimportant to me.

My last word on this - people don't want everything for free (I certainly don't) - they want to pay a fair price, not effectively held to ransom and gouged. It's preposterous that it makes more sense for me to buy a reinstatement and hold it in reserve instead of renewing. After the debacle of the last cpl of years, when Avid didn't even release the promised version for months after the start of the year, I'm not going to fall for it yet again.

Vast majority if people not having problems are not posting here so what was your point again?

Many people who have problems with PT or dislike Avid's business model, do not post here, simply because the people who do it, have them covered enough already. It is very convenient to assume that people who don't post are happy with the situation. One look at the Licensing section on DUC, is enough for someone to get its own conclusions... the "happiness" is of the roof!

More people should post here, even if they are covered by others, to express their opinions, don't let your silence be used as an argument like: "only a few complain, most are happy".

Oh, Happy Holidays everybody, the vaccination has started and hope the COVID nightmare will ends soon.

Cheers!

If I took the time I could make Reaper act like PT but that would take way too long to be productive. Why do that when I am already quick in PT? Logic and Cubase are great for music only creation, but I do SFX work more than anything so I need to work with picture a lot of the time. No other DAW works with picture like Pro Tools. They just don't. Haven't tried Studio One but have little desire to do so. When I was coming up Pro Tools was the thing to know if you wanted to be professional. It's not perfect but it is head and shoulders way more professional than the other DAWs I have used along the way having started with Cubase VST 3.5, used Logic when it was still on PC, DP, etc. PT is how I earn my bread and butter...

Sooo ... since you are here and I assume a PT user ... does that mean you are an old fart then?

Check open forums, look around the internet. From what I see, there are definitely people who like and defend PT as a product, but it is very hard to find anyone anywhere who will defend Avid and their business model or business practices. The company itself is not held in high regard.
