Default Proper setup for pt le mbox 2 pro

Hi..i am curious on what would be the proper setup on a macbook pro laptop, a external hard drive and the mbox2 pro unit....in other words..i know the main program would be on the internal hard drive of the laptop but lets say u got a lot of virtual instruments...would u install them on the external hard drive or internal for the best performance on PTLE?...which way would cause less cpu usage?.. I do alot of midi work...so thats where this question lies.....thank u......new macbook pro17" laptop 4 gig ram.

Which version of the macbook pro do you have. If you have a 17" one, add an additional firewire bus by getting an express card. Put the interface on the built in fw, put 2 hard drives on the express fw. One hard drive for libraries one hard drive for recording.

The second external hard drive is for VI libraries if you need it. If your libraries are not too big or too many, they can work from the sytem drive. You'll want to keep your audio sessions on its own drive. You can daisy chain the drive and the Mbox2Pro but it seem to work more efficiently if it is on a separate firewire buss.
