Default quicktimes in timeline not found

Anyone else having this problem with sessions upon updating to 2020.3? Basically older sessions when opened, none of the videos can be found, even when pointing to the right folder and simplifying the search criteria.

If you find all candidates and then physically choose the right file and manually force the link, that then works - but some of my sessions have dozens of videos so it's an issue!

I'm on catalina + a new macbook pro 16 - probably half the problem tbh...
